7| Review| My Go-To, Feel Good TV Show Recommendations

There is so much content on the internet for viewers to watch. Sometimes it can be overwhelming just to choose a show/movie to watch. There are nights that I’ve spent 2-3 hours trying to pick a movie to watch and eventually given up to cozy in and re-watch an episode of FRIENDS. Its crazy how sometime fictional characters can be more comforting than people in your life. There have been countless ‘MEH’ moments in my life where I’ve literally just wanted some comfort food (usually cheesecake & fries), alone time and re-runs of my favourite comfort shows! These are shows that I have re-watched countless times to the point that I probably know most of the dialogues by heart. But there’s just something soothing about having them around even if just as background noise drowning all the thoughts in my head. Here are my top picks for my Go-To comfort shows:

Modern Family – Can we all just agree that this show has the most fun characters ever! I love love love this show. The characters with all their quirks are so relatable and so funny. They always find a way to warm my heart. I cried buckets when the show ended this year. My favourite character is Claire mainly because I’m a total control freak like her – whose your favourite character?

My favourite episode has to be – Season 3 Ep 9 – ‘Punkin Chunkin’. But I can watch just about any episode again. (Watch it on: Hotstar in India)

❀

Gilmore Girls – I know this recommendation might feel a little girly but this show makes me melt and feel so good no matter how many times I watch it. The story revolves around the mother-daughter pair of Lorelai & Rory. This show is bound to melt your heart and make you laugh. Add to it Luke & Lorelai’s love story and this show is perfect for snuggling in with COFFEE, COFFEE, COFFEE (show reference)!

Favourite Episodes: My favourite Luke & Lorelai episodes are Season 4, Ep 21 & Ep 22 – the beginning of their love story. My favourite Lorelai & Rory episode is Season 6, Ep 9 – when Rory returns home after being apart from Lorelai. (Watch it on: Netflix)

The reunion :’)

The Middle – This is such an under appreciated show! I don’t think any of my friends have watched this show but I have re-watched this show atleast a 100 times. Just like Modern Family, this is a family comedy about the Hecks who are a middle class family in the US trying to make ends meet. There is always a crisis going on and its really fun to see how the family gets through it. Its a very light comedy and suitable for times when you’re low and want cheering up.

Favourite Episodes: Season 6, Ep: 14 because its sad & funny at the same time & all the Mother’s Day episodes (Ep:22/23 in every season). (Watch it on: Amazon Prime)

The Hecks

Brooklyn 99 – This show is the happiest show ever. It deals with a lot of serious issues but still manages to leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. Jake is definitely one of the most fun characters ever in a TV show. Together with the entire 99 squad, this show is bound to get you laughing!

Favourite episodes: Season 5, Ep: 4 & 22 – Jake & Amy’s wedding & proposal, Season 5, Ep 1 & 2 – When Jake is in Jail, the episodes are really funny. (Watch it on: Netflix)

Season 5: Ep 2

The Office (US)– This show is something else. ‘The Office’ is a lot of people’s favourite show! Dwight, Jim & Michael are the just the trio you need to cheer you up. Throw in Jim & Pam’s romance as well as Michael & Holly’s romance and you have a perfect show. This show is hilarious but it takes its time to grow on you, mainly because it takes time to get used to Michael. Funnily its only much later that you realize how much you like Michael.

Favourite Episodes: Jim & Pam moments – Season 6, Ep: 4&5, Season 9, Ep: 23 & Season 3, Ep: 23; Michael & Holly moment: Season 7, Ep: 19. But there are so many other episodes that I absolutely love too. (Watch it on: Amazon Prime)

This trio is a hoot!

I have left out FRIENDS mainly because I’ve spent so many years re-watching every single episode that I escape to the Central Perk world lesser these days. But there are so many relatable moments in the show that I do go back sometimes.

Hope you enjoy watching my list of recommended shows! Do tell me about your Go-To, Feel Good shows in the comments. I’m always looking for new recommendations for shows to watch.

  3. I have never seen a full episode of The Office but the snippets I see are all really funny. And I know the feeling of searching for hours for something to watch only to watch the same thing you have seen 73 times. I also find your username very cute. Coming here from Nath’s tag. Nice blog!
