Just Maybe

Have you ever had those moments when you really want to do something but no matter how hard you try you just aren’t able to bring yourself to do it? I’ve been feeling that way about writing. There’s so much I want to write about but I just can’t get myself to sit down and do it. Usually such phases are triggered by my anxiety but this time I just can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it’s a phase of writer’s block but I hope it’s not because I really enjoy putting my thoughts into posts out here. Maybe I am a little stressed as the followers count increases – I spend hours re-reading and judging every post to see how a stranger reading it would perceive it. Maybe it’s just that I really want to write inspired content but I feel like my last few posts were just about okay and I want to do better than that. Maybe I just feel like my writing is nowhere close to as well as some people write on here – the amazing bloggers that I follow who are able to wow me with almost all their posts. Maybe there isn’t much happening in my life to inspire my posts – don’t get me wrong, life is hectic and crazy but it does lack the adventure of pre-covid days. Maybe I’m changing as a person through this crazy phase (read as: 2020) and I need to understand myself to better express myself on here (if that makes sense). Or maybe I just need to go easy on myself and not pressurise myself to post something every few days.

The last two weeks were hectic, happy and super exciting. The upcoming week is looking to be the same. So instead of letting the pressure of posting loom over my head as a grey cloud, I’m going to choose to let the words flow when they do. It could be a day or two or a week or more but I’m going to let myself take time so that I can post content that makes me truly proud. This blog has been my happy place these past few months and I’d like it to stay the same.

How have you been doing? What inspires you to write?

If there’s anything on your mind – leave me a message here or comment below. Hope you’re all doing well.

You know today i read one post where the blogger said that there will come a time when you will compare your posts with other bloggers and feel uninspired. What she reminds us is to stay consistent with our efforts because every other person’s journey isn’t similar. So it’s okay to take some time off and live your life. That’s what Paulo Coelho says on writing, he doesn’t waits to write, he just goes on living his life and then write from that experience. One of the blogs i used to read long time back, the blogger would write a couple of posts when she felt inspired and then schedule them. You get the drift.
We all get stressed out and life pulls us in another direction. I think it’s wise then to go with the flow. I think from your posts, so far you’ve been doing really good, though there’s always scope for improvement. Maybe you can update your older posts or re-arrange things like we do with our furniture at home. Or you can learn join courses on blogging. More we learn, better we become at it. Anyway, good luck with your journey. I think you have a good sense of humor. Maybe you can gain inspiration from there if you start viewing your life from a lighter perspective.

There aren’t any β€œrules” for when we need to write just what we impose on ourselves or censor within ourselves!

I save various memes which speak to me, and when I sit down in the evening to work on the scheduled post for the morning, I choose one which speaks to me the most in that moment.

I write about what the meme triggers in me, and try my best to add my spin to it based on what I’ve experienced and learned from those experiences.

There have been times when I was still raw and working through a particular experience where I didn’t feel like writing. Nor did I feel like painting, another passion. So I’d do some art therapy by just using color and markings to express my mood, then I’d add words or thoughts to it. Wonderfully cathartic! Really helps me to move past the emotions which block me and to find deeper insights I to myself!

  3. A little trick I put into play is updating and reworking older posts when I don’t have anything scheduled or any content ideas. My older posts were written when I was younger but I find myself wanting still to share them, just with a different perspective and take on things + a mature approach.

This is such great advice – so so helpful! I’m totally going to try doing this. There are so many old posts that I love that I can modify and re-post. Thank you for the idea! β™₯️

Thanks a lot for sharing this! I think so many people experience this, especially when it comes to something creative, like writing. It’s a wonderful decision to not push yourself and let the words and motivation to put them on your blog come to you!

Don’t forget to pamper yourself a little! Sending love. β™₯

I would say to you, “just be you” when it comes to blogging. Don’t force you self into writing. When you have that “writing feeling” then write. If you don’t feel like writing or it not just not there, it okay to step back.

It sounds like you’re over-thinking it and doubting yourself – both things that I excel at πŸ˜‰ so that’s how I know. πŸ˜›

You could approach this several ways. 1) write a list of blog post ideas and use them when you need inspiration or a push. 2) just write when you feel like it. 3) see 2 and realize that just because you write it, doesn’t mean you have to post it [I do this A LOT]. 4) recognize that the only pressure you are experiencing is coming for yourself and have fun! 5) ignore all advice.

Normally, I get inspired by reading other people’s writing. It could be anything, really, and unrelated. Enjoy the journey!
