Me| 5 FUN FACTS ABOUT ME THAT YOU PROBABLY DIDN’T KNOW

I am in a mood to write some fun posts this month! It could have something to do with 2020 ending or with the fact that its December or just that I’m in a healthier mental space right now but I want to post some fun stuff here. Olivia did a post few weeks back about things you might not know about her and I really enjoyed reading it. Taking inspiration from her post, I decided to do a similar post of my own.

Here are some fun/funny facts about me –

The annual cultural fest of my engineering college was named after me!

Haha, ok-ok, it wasn’t named after me but we did share the same name! Every year during the fest, the entire college would be chanting my name and it would honestly feel like everyone was celebrating me. I’d sneak off a few posters every year to decorate my room with.

The Fest!

My first crush was Australian Cricketer, Brett Lee.

I was a huge cricket fan when I was a child (cricket is huge in India, if you didn’t already know that). While I was crazy about the then Indian Cricket Team but I was smitten the moment I saw Brett Lee. Granted he was twice my age, it didn’t stop me from planning our wedding in my head. I even had my friends call me Mrs.Lee, a fact that they never fail to remind me of! (EMBARRASSING!)

Look at him! ❤

I am agnostic.

While I am a Hindu by birth, I have alternated between atheism and strong religious beliefs for most of my adult life before settling on being agnostic. I am a believer of science and also believe that there is some higher power out there but I don’t think its within human capabilities to know that power. Adding to my beliefs is the state of all religions across the globe – the unceremonious conversions, the hatefulness towards other religions, the feeling of superiority, unquestioning trust in a religion/religious leader – just makes my belief stronger that if there is a higher power – it is beyond the capabilities of mankind to understand it. This is more a FACT than a fun fact!

Heaven for Agnostics

I love playing pranks on people!

I am an evil person who loves playing pranks on those around me. From my family to my friends to my colleagues – I spare no one! Range of harmless pranks –

  • Sending messages to my friend’s crush from her phone confessing her feelings
  • Posting funny poems on my friends’ social media whenever I’d have their phone
  • Annoying my sister with my cold hands on her warm face on a cold winter morning
  • Sending spam mails from my colleagues’ mail (whenever they’d leave their laptops unlocked) inviting everyone to a party being hosted by them
Love being evil!

I was sort of detained by the police when I was in college.

No, no – this isn’t me confessing about a dark past. When I was in college, protests broke out in India against the corruption prevalent in our country. As a young rebel, my friends and I bunked college and headed to where the protests were happening. The police were arresting all protestors in an effort to stop the protest but there were just TOO many protestors, so instead they started using stadiums to detain the protestors. I was one of thousands of people who were detained at various stadiums across Delhi. Since we were students the police tried to scare us off by saying this would lead to a permanent record but we were too taken up by the cause to care (we obviously didn’t get a record). They also let us go in the night (pheww.. because we were starving at that point and we could see the rebellion in us vanish :P)!

The protests!

These were some fun things from my life that I thought you might find fun to know! I have a lot of sides to me – some more quirky than others! What are some fun facts about you that people on here don’t know? Fun fact #6: I love gossip! So please share gossip about yourself. 😛

Stay safe and share some secrets!

India against corruption was later hijacked by Kejriwal for his political gain. We too ran around little badges on chest during then. But now when I think about it , it looks silly

I don’t know. Maybe it didn’t have the impact that we expected but it did have an impact – people started talking about corruption in our country. It became an agenda on every party’s election manifesto. Shiela Dixit was outed after 15years of extreme corruption. And I think the seeds of this were sowed by India Against Corruption. I think Kejriwal did benefit from it but atleast he gave an alternate option to people. He might not have done a lot mainly because of his lack of experience and the hand that he was dealt (Delhi is a UT).

Hmmm.. I would call it lack of competence rather than experience 🙂

      2. I once got stuck in a protest too. it was in my +2 days and the entire student body was protesting during elections and they had sealed off every entrance of the college. We were new students at that time and got stuck inside. Even though it got intense I distinctly remember the excitement of it. I like this aspect of our country. We mind our own business most of the time but when something needs to be done everyone comes together to do it and it’s amazing. 😊

Yesh. High five. I was involved in the anti-CAA protests! Didn’t get arrested though, got lucky. But some of my friends were and others got wounded by lathi charges. Sighs. But hell yeah, student protests are unstoppable. I love the spirit of rebellion for a good cause! 😤🖤

    Good day

There was never a divine appearance in me
    an experience
    an event
    to whom I humbly
    obey subject

    I didn’t have to make a decision
to knowingly build on the knowledge gained
I don’t have to believe anything
what I did not experience myself
    have experienced

Even as a child I was amazed
    why people
worship a higher power out there
    and not every day
    to hear that
    what one soul tells them
in contradiction to one’s own basic attitude
    the beliefs
the dogma of the spiritually powerful
    imagining infallible to belief

    All ties back are crutches
    not for those without claim
    to a universally valid truth
lead your own way to the end

    I don’t need any like-minded people
    no leader
I don’t want or need anyone
    don’t even trust myself
    the doubt is the tool
not for an argument with others
the upper hand, law, legislation and order
    for others to determine.

what others think is right or wrong
I don’t want to see myself as a guide

    Best regards
    Hans Gamma
