My friends say – blogging is a fun hobby. But is it really? Anyone who has been blogging for a few months will know that it can get stressful when the stats aren’t flowing and the likes aren’t coming. I love how blogging has provided me with an outlet for my feelings and thoughts but at the same time I hate how at the end of every week I obsess over not getting a lot of views (considering I really don’t do anything to promote my blog). There are a few recurring thoughts that I think while blogging. These thoughts range from happy to sad to envious to downright evil.
Here are some thoughts that I have pretty often and hope other bloggers can relate –
- After every post – “Why did I get only 60 likes despite having 1000 followers? Did the others follow me and immediately disappear from the face of earth?”
- When work gets too hectic – “Can I monetize this blog and retire already? I think I’m funny enough to earn enough to atleast be able to shop at the H&M sale racks.”
- When someone connects on the gram – “She started following my personal profile (which is actually public), now she’ll know I’m not as cool as I make it sound on the blog!”
- Readings posts that are snooze fests but have a 100 loving comments –“WAIT, that gets 200 likes and a 100 comments but my hilarious post doesn’t? LIFE IS SO UNFAIR!”
- Every time someone nominates you for an award – “May every little girl who witnessed this moment forever believe in the power of her dreams and may they see their faces reflected in mine. I proudly state I am
Miss Universe 2019oops, Vincent Elogjhsjsfjggj Blogger Award Nominee!”
Please tell me you have similar thoughts and I’m not the weird one thinking these thoughts. I have chosen the least controversial of my thoughts to share, if you’d want a post with the more controversial thoughts – let me know in the comments. (:P) What are recurring thoughts that you have?

I write on patriarchy, life and happiness. Am interested in like minded writings, and different viewpoints on these topics. I try to ignore stats, as I am happy to just find community here on WP. I feel real conversations are more important for me than numbers, as this is a hobby.

3 and 4, so relatable! I had someone who I think is/was a reader message me on my private Facebook (also public) and I am definitely not as cool there as I am on my blog! On my blog I know that i have to be compelling and interesting, so I try. On Facebook, I know that it’s mostly my family, so I’m just like “here’s a thing I did so that you know I’m not sat on my butt watching TV all day” haha.
With 4, I have definitely read from some people.who are so monotonous, drav and dull and yet, similarly, they’re up thousands of likes and followers. My niche is quite controversial but I still try to be fun and energetic in it. Think of it like having a boring tutor, versus a fun one. Who do people really listen to? It seems though, not when it comes to blogging.

Absolutely love this, I’m new to blogging and everyday it takes me back to junior high where my English teacher at the time through a fit with me cause I didn’t want to follow the rules of grammar. I called my writing, free writing, a way to express myself and write the way I would say it out loud! I still can remember the look on her face and her short dark hair and the tall leggy thinness she exemplified! Thank you for sharing!

Everything that you’ve thought about blogging is totally relatable. (I think many of us have similar thoughts at various times.) 🥰
Even with the frustration that can come with it, blogging is definitely an act of love. Most of us write because we are so passionate about our subjects and want to share with as many as we can. It’s always so thrilling to click on the “Publish” button. Most of us write for many, but when it comes down to it, we would write for a few loyal readers, too.
I really enjoyed this article. It’s a good reminder of how much our blogging means to us and that we are a community; one that can be here to support and encourage one another. ♥️
