Date Night Stories

Continuing with the dating series – I wanted to share some fun, personal stories but I am still on the edge about what I am comfortable with sharing in these posts. So I decided to share the top 3 dates I’ve been on through the past few years of dating. Hope you enjoy reading about these dates.

Picnic Dinner By The Sea Side

My  favourite date ever has to be a date that I planned (humble bow). The guy I was trying to date had a very hectic work life and so for our Friday night date, I changed our getting a drink in a pub plan and told him to meet me at this picturesque sea side spot in the city. I quickly left work and got food, dessert, shakes packed. Since I didn’t have any picnic-y things on me, I just found a nice, quiet spot and set up our dinner before he came. We had a really fun picnic dinner with a beautiful sea and lit bridge view and just talked a lot. The food was amazing too so that was an added bonus. Definitely one of my favourite dates ever.  *so much nostalgia*

Movie & Pizza Night

You know one of those awkward dates that turns into something really great? This was one of those! Why was the date awkward? It was with someone from work that I had had a crush on but since you already know the person and will cross paths after – it just makes going on a date awkward. The date started with both of us being super awkward and not knowing how to just be chill but we relaxed over time and my crush intensified over some pizza and a crappy movie. It was a super nice, feel good date and I felt like a teenager on a date with her high school crush- giggling and being silly.  I even doodled our names together after the date. *face palm*

Last Pre-Pandemic Date

The last date I went on pre-pandemic-lockdown was crazy. It was a Saturday night and I was at a friend’s place to chill and get a drink with her and her husband. Unknown to me, they had invited this annoying friend of her husband’s and the whole night was kind of a YAWN. I had been talking to this guy for a over a month and we hadn’t gotten to meeting because something or the other always came in the way of our plans. He was bored at some party and I was bored at that party so we decided to meet for a drink. (Kids, drinking is not good for health) Despite meeting him for the first time, something just clicked and it felt so so comfortable. We played some drinking games, embarrassed ourselves, talked a lot and then he dropped me back home (in a cab, of course) to make sure I got back all safe.  It was just this really fun date with this really nice guy. It was more fun because we chatted all next day sharing embarrassing stories from the night before.  It probably sounds like just another date and I am not doing a good job of explaining it – but it just was like this instant CLICK. Like you can feel something inside telling you that this feels right. I don’t know if you’ve felt it but you just know that this could be something. He was sweet, funny, smart and silly. Unfortunately, I never got to go on a second date because we went into lockdown and before the lockdown could be lifted I moved cities. Just one more thing this pandemic and fate ruined! Funnily, we still chat sometimes and he’s still single and I so wish we were in the same city. *sigh*

The underlying thing that made all these dates amazing was the guy and how comfortable he made me feel. There was a complete respect of me and my private space  – something I find very important during dates because no matter how much you try to weed out the bad ones, you do meet 1-2 people who cross boundaries and make the date ugly for you.

Also despite meeting these amazing guys – things didn’t work out with them for various reasons – not being in the same place relationship wise, wanting different things from lives, moving to different cities and other reasons. But I am glad I got to go on these fun dates and meet some really nice people. Not everything can become something. 🙂

It felt so nice to relive these dates in my head while writing this post. Which date story did you like best?

If the company is good the date is bound to be great as it happened with you. It’s all about clicking. The beauty of the place than adds on a bit more.
Good that you had memorable dates.
