Saturday Date Story

If you’re a follower, you probably know about my new business. While it’s been thrilling and an adventure, it’s also been exhausting and overwhelming. The past 2-3 weeks I’ve had to deal with stolen packages, damaged packages, undelivered shipments, new product launches and so much marketing work – all by myself. I’ve finally hired an intern to help me with social media work but it’s still been crazy. So I finally took yesterday off to get a breather. While I spent the morning in bed just letting my body recuperate from all the running around – I decided to do something that I used to do a lot pre-pandemic but haven’t in a while. I took myself on a ME date.

Cheesecake (sorry I didn’t bother taking better photos)

What is a ME date? A ME date is when you doll up, grab a book (or in this case a book and my laptop) and head to a cutesy cafe to go on a date with yourself.

Why a ME date? Honestly, it is the best way to shut off from everything else and just spend some time with yourself quietly.

How to plan a ME date? The best way to do it is to go to a quiet cafe or find a quiet nook in a busy cafe. Some quiet is necessary for me to be able to cut off from the world and focus on myself.

Things to carry on a ME date? 1. Your wallet to pay for cofffee (duh) 2. Earphones to drown out the world 3. A book/Kindle or laptop 4. Face mask

My book and chipped nail paint

How did my ME date go? Really well. I found a quiet outdoorsy book in a cutesy cafe to enjoy this splendid weather. I got myself a cold coffee and cheesecake slice. I read ‘The Forty Rules Of Love’ for an hour and then worked for an hour and a half. (My intern got engaged this weekend so didn’t have time to work. *argh* Totally happy for her but just sad for me since I couldn’t take a total break.) It was a nice break from everyone, would have been better if I didn’t have to work.

Such a beautiful book

What didn’t work on my ME date? The cheesecake and coffee though not bad weren’t the best. I also sort of got a condescending vibe from the cafe manager, which I had gotten used to when I used to do this pre-pandemic but threw me off today and started the evening off a lil meh. I don’t know if it’s an India thing. It could also just be me being overtly sensitive. I am also very socially awkward so maybe I misread the vibe.

Overall I am pretty happy that I did this. It felt good to reconnect with ny old self. It made me feel so much more confident doing this. I totally recommend this to everyone – go out by your self, spend time alone – it really works wonders for your confidence and morale.

So how was your weekend?

PS: I woke up to a feature in a popular Indian newspaper. 😬

Wuhuuu – was too lazy to take a proper screnshot

  1. Wow! Congrats on the featured article, Moksha.
I’m not much familiar with the topic. I’ll give it a go for sure.
MeDate seems interesting. And, it gets more “me” with coffee, fav. book & earbuds.
My MeDate is my two-wheeler & long drive.
    Peace assured!

‘Me Date’ is a nice day . Just being with oneself in a cafe it any other comfortable place. Yes, it is quite a normal thing fot cafe owners to pass on negative vibes to customers they think are occupying space and not generating enough business. Indian coffee houses, the hub of duscussions and reading, died for this reason.
Nice read Moksha. I hope your business is doing good.
    Stay blessed always.
