Rakhi Tales – How My Last Week Went

Hello all,

This is going to be a super short post since I am too exhausted to write a long one. Yesterday was Raksha Bandhan in India – a festival celebrating sibling love. The week before was super hectic since my brand was also selling rakhis and had a physical stall in my local market to sell it too. All in all – it was a crazy week but a fun week too. I learnt a lot, had multiple break downs and had a lot of fun. My intern quit since she got a new job – and while I was happy for her – how she quit left me feeling miffed. (she basically stopped working for a whole week, when I finally asked she told me she got another job and so was going to quit. So since everything was quite hectic, I took a day to process her dues and she literally started badgering me for her money – which I already told her that I was going to pay her despite her not doing much. Uff.)

I also came to appreciate the family and friends who showed up and supported me. Since I am socially awkward – I needed someone to be with me to talk to people and sell things. One evening all my family was busy so I was alone at the stall and was having a break down since I was feeling anxious to talk to new people. So I texted my friend who lives nearby and 10 minutes late he was there to just stand with me and boost my confidence. It felt so good. I know none of them read this – but I am so thankful to all these wonderful people. Here are some photos from my week –

The stall set up.
My mum and my aunt
Rain played a spoil sport some days
My siblings and I – with my brand’s rakhi
So many customer’s sent us happy photos and made my day ☺️

After a hectic few days, I plan to take 2-3 days off this week to chill out before I jump back into my crazy work. How was your last week?

IKR? Like I was unsure of how to ask her what was up – since I am bad at these conversations but her entire attitude was pretty unprofessional. :/
Yesss. It actually felt good to talk to people and sell things face to face – since I could personally share my vision behind the brand with them. But it was A LOT of work – I was on my feet for like 5-6 hours – so so tired by the end of it all.
Truee – I usually like doing things by myself – but this made me realize how important it is to have people around who help and support you. πŸ™‚ ❀
How have you been? I love your Goddess mugs – did I tell you that? Are you planning more merch?

      1. Yes, she needs to learn a better work ethic! Yeah I would TOTALLY be drained if I was working that booth for that amount of hours. It’s exhausting having to be β€œon” for that long, so it’s so great you had your peeps come help! OMG thank you for loving my mugs πŸ’– it really means a lot! I really want to do more merch, it’s so fun and rewarding! I just feel like I need to sleep the bulk of this before I create any more. But I have so many ideas! ⭐️ Thank u always! xo

Congratulations on the successful growth of your brand. Here’s to more! I’m glad you’re taking some time off. You deserve it. The pictures are great! You’ve celebrated well! πŸ˜πŸ˜‰
One can never guess from your blog that you’re socially awkward. I mean, one can’t guess from anyone’s blog, but when I read your blogs, I imagine a bold, confident voice behind. I’m incredibly socially awkward and a terrible misfit wherever I go. So I know how you felt talking to the customers. But I’m very sure you’ll get used to it and do great πŸ˜€

I always feel a little relieved when I meet someone else who is as socially awkward as I am. I am a misfit in most social situations – though I have learnt to fake confidence and appear settled but inside I am just like – why am I even here? Though from your blog also I got the impression of a young, well read, super smart and super confident girl!

Aww that’s such a kind compliment. I’m afraid that’ll change if you happen to meet me in real life through πŸ˜‚ I can be so awkward that people would cringe 🀭 I don’t celebrate Raksha Bandhan because my brother is very very small and he doesn’t know about it yet. Maybe in the future πŸ˜€
PS: So relatable- That fake confidence part!

Thank you so much! πŸ™‚ It was a good sale and it wasn’t – I mean I did end up with a few excess rakhis left! :/ But overall it was a fun thing to do. πŸ™‚

What a week! Crazy about the intern. I worked in Human Resources for a long time before switching back to writing, and I was always surprised when people just stopped showing up to work. Like, at least take two seconds to send an email!

The rakhis are beautiful! So colorful! I’ve been following your brand over on Instagram, too, and every time I see a post, I just sit there and smile. It’s such a cool thing that you’re doing! You’ve really inspired me to be more conscious of what I buy and the products I use.

IKR? Having worked in a corporate job for 5 years before this – I was so conscious of giving a notice period and leaving on good terms. It was super odd for me to deal with this – since she was also my first employee ever. Here is hoping future employees/interns work out better.
Awww – thank you so much! It really means a lot! ❀

  9. It’s amazing how things are coming along with your brand, was that the first market stall you have done?

      Thank you so much!
Yes it was. It was our first physical sale – since we’ve been mostly just selling online. So it was both challenging and fun. Though as an introvert, I had such a HARD time figuring out how to stop people and sell stuff. With the mask on, it was even more difficult to smile and attract people. πŸ˜€
