How To Be More Sustainable While Travelling — Moksha

I haven’t travelled a lot since my decision to become more sustainable last year (thank you – pandemic) but I do try to keep sustainability in mind while planning my travel. Is it possible to be 100% sustainable while travelling? Maybe in some parts of the world like Iceland – but definitely not possible if…

How To Be More Sustainable While Travelling — Moksha

Sharing this post about travelling from sustainably. Like I always say being a 100% sustainable isn’t the goal – the goal for now is to be 50% more sustainable in the next 2 years. Keeping that goal in mind, this post covers some very easy ways to be sustainable while travelling. Do you do anything to be a more conscious traveller?

PS: I finally had a short holiday last week – can’t wait to post more about it in a future post.

I sometimes chide myself for not being more sustainable but I realized that years ago I had switched from single serving drinks, hot and cold, to carrying my own cold and hot drink containers. Before I leave the house I fill them up with my beverage of choice and they last me through the day. That simple switch helps our environment plus our wallets!

It is all the small things we do that add up to make a bigger difference. Proud of you for your contribution. ❤

Good food for the thought. I especially like the idea of planting a tree to compensate for the carbon footprints involved in taking a long vacation abroad. These are some very valid points and I’m definitely taking notes!

Thank you, love! I know it isn’t always possible to be conscious when you are out and having fun – but if we can come back home and mitigate some of the damage we do – it is still something. 🙂

We got rid of our gas-guzzling vehicles and bought two Chevy Sparks. They get about 40 miles to the gallon on the highway. We would have gone electric, but the technology wasn’t there yet two yeras ago.

Great move! I think it will still be a few years before my country will be adequately teched up for electric cars especially more remote places – but here’s hoping – sooner than later. 🙂

  4. That’s a lot of amazing to tips, Moksha. Some times, we don’t realise that we’re being wasteful. Great points. Thanks for sharing

Right? I have always been one of those people who would take a lot of food in the buffet and then end up wasting it – but I have slowly become more conscious of my ways. I hope others do too. 🙂

Thank you for this post. What I do is I tend to offset my carbon emissions from flying. The cost is absolutely nothing to me compared to a plane ticket! In fact, I’m surprised they don’t include that in the cost. Also, if it’s a road trip, I do my best to rent a greener car. The only time I would rent a 4 wheel drive is if I was travelling in the Canadian countryside in winter because it’s no joke!

That is such a great idea! I’ve heard of offsetting carbon footprint – but not aware of any such firm in India – will definitely look into it, Thank you for sharing that. Definitely something I’d love to share with others around me as well.

Well, I use it for my flights really. And even with that, you have to actively seek it out. Not a lot of awareness with that going on
