Note: This post has been written on the Bloganuary prompt of the day ‘Interview a fictional character‘.

It has been 15 years since The Daily Prophet had a chance at interviewing the elusive child wizard who not only saved the wizarding world from all things evil but is now also the Head of Magical Law Enforcement. Wanting to raise his family away from the limelight, Mr. Harry Potter turned down all our attempts at getting him to give us a glimpse into his ‘afterlife’. But we’ve finally managed to convince Mr.Potter for a very short interview-

Q. Firstly, it is a true honour to be able to interview you. I’ve pestered Mrs.Potter for so long to get you to sit down with us for an interview and I’m glad it finally worked. So firstly, what changed your mind, I am hoping it was my persistence?

A. Ah, the many evenings when my wife came back from work and complained about that annoying coworker who wouldn’t give up on his hope to interview me. Honestly, at first, I wanted to get a chance at a normal life and then after, I just wanted my kids to have that normal childhood that I didn’t have. So I felt it was best to walk away from the limelight till they were old enough to understand.

Q. Talking about your childhood, I have often wondered if have you kept in touch with your muggle roots.

A. They are family. *he says with a smile*

Q. I understand, I won’t pry too much about your family. After having done my research on the second wizarding war, I’ve always been curious about the deathly hallows. Since you’ve never accepted or denied possession of the 3 hallowed objects, is it safe to assume that these priceless objects are safe with you?

A. The most priceless material possession that I have safe in my care is my uncle, Sirius’ motorbike.

Q. Having seen so much loss at such a young age must have left you with a large void in your heart.

A. It is true that people are irreplaceable but love isn’t. You can always find more love out there in the world to fill your heart. And love is all you need.

Q. That is a beautiful perspective. In your opinion, do you think that night you defeated all evil and put an end to all things bad?

A. I don’t think evil is over. Evil is all around us but it is defeated by the power of all our love and unity. Till we stand united, evil will not be able to take the form it did last time around.

Q. How has life changed for you after the victory in the Second Wizarding War? What was the reason for your not returning to Hogwarts?

<At this point the interview is interrupted by Albus’ loud wails and Mrs.Potter interrupts to whisk away Mr. Potter who gives me a naughty wink before leaving making me that he was thankful for the interruption that quickly ended this interview.>

We hope to have Mr.Potter answer a few more questions in our next interview with him, hopefully sometime before the next decade ends. Meanwhile, his best friend Mr.Ron Weasley will be joining us for yet another tell all interview next week.

I really enjoyed this prompt the most and took it as an opportunity to have an interview with my favourite character. Please ignore any factual mistakes that I might have made considering I haven’t picked up the books in the last 3-4 years.
