Disclaimer: this is a funny post and is not targetting anyone.
So as a blogger, we often interact with many bloggers on a daily basis. While most interactions are pleasant and leave you feeling good about the blogging world, some are just annoying. Different kinds of blogger behaviours get me a little annoyed. I’m pretty sure this blog is going to make me sound like a grumpy old man but these are the types of annoying bloggers –

1. The FFFs
Nope, these aren’t your BFFs these are the ‘Follow For Follow’ bloggers who just follow you in the hope that you’ll follow them back. Once they follow you, they will never engage on a post and it will almost feel like they’ve been swallowed into a black hole.
2. The Skimmers (not affiliated with SKIMS)
If you’ve been blogging for a bit now, you can easily differentiate between the genuine comments and comments from people who skimmed your post and are just commenting for attendance. I totally understand that it isn’t always possible to read through dozens of posts at a time. I skim through posts some times too, when I don’t have enough time but want to be a supportive blogger. But when I get too many of such comments on my posts, I start doubting my entire blogging existence because I know my post was boring.
3. The Desperate Class Participators
Similar to the skimmers, these are bloggers who want to mark their attendance on a post, so you keep engaging with them too. They will not read a single word and their comment will be something general like – “great post” or “so well written”. (Something that I’m guilty of doing too.) It gets annoying when their comment is totally unrelated to your post and you’re left scratching your head wondering what they meant. I remember posting a sad-ish post a while back and getting a comment that said “I’m so happy for you”. I was like whuuuuut?!?!
4. The CBD Sellers
Hahah, are your spam comments filled with CBD sellers too? What do they want from the blogging community??!!
5. The Disappearing Act
Bloggers who get you hooked to their blogs and then one fine day disappear into thin air. You are left wondering what happened to them and their story!!?? The annoying part is not getting closure especially if this is a personal blogger who shared their life stories.
6. The Humble Braggers
Have you ever had a friend who’ll keep bragging in the form of complaints? Eg: I have so much work these days, it’s killing me but I guess that 9 figure salary makes up for it. I get annoyed by bloggers who post content that is just them bragging in a humble way. Eg: A post like ‘5 Things To Keep In Mind While Buying Your First Home’ – will start off with- it was a difficult journey but I bought my first home at 21. And then have some advice like – ‘know what you’re looking for’ and an anectode like – ‘I was sure I wanted a 3 bedroom flat but there was nothing good in my area so I settled for a 5 bedroom mansion with a pool, outhouse and library’. (I am exaggerating!!!)
7. The Attention Seekers
These are bloggers that just want to promote their own blog in your comments. I totally get that it is an easy way to promote your blog but it can get annoying when they leave multiple comments just asking you to follow them. I WILL NOT FOLLOW YOU!!!
8. The ‘HAPPY’ People
I hate it when people call me ‘HAPPY’ in the comments. I get that my blog name can be a little confusing so just say ‘Happy Panda’ or ‘HP’ or nothing. Being called ‘happy’ or even ‘panda’ really triggers me.
I love the blogosphere but some things just get me going – ‘ARGHHH’. But to be totally honest, I am super guilty of doing no.2 & no.3. There are also some poetic bloggers that I follow whose poems I don’t always get despite re-reading them a few times. So I just read the other comments and try to figure out a nice comment that I can leave from them.
What are some blogger habits that annoy you?
I might be a skimmer then. I do hate reading posts that go on for pages.

Same here. Especially when you’ve got loads of posts to read. But while trying to please all and like each post, we actually please none…. (A quote hahaha)
😅

I am guilty of doing it too when I’m short on time but want to be supportive of fellow bloggers.

Hehe, I’m kinda guilty of a bunch of these. Like, I TRY to read most posts and actually write legitimate comments, but uh. That doesn’t always happen…
Yeeeah, it does kind of annoy me when someone comments and is just trying to promote their blog… like “Nice post! You should CHECK OUT MY BLOG OVER HERE.” I mean, did you even… read my post?

I agree!! These are also those people who don’t care about our blogs and they like 4-6 blogs at once and then expect for a follow. Happens with me all the time. I generally spend a decent amount of time on the blogs I’m reading and drop comments to show my appreciation and respect towards the creator.😁

SAME!! While I want to read every single post thoroughly – it isn’t always possible.
ARGH, ya. Sometimes people don’t even say “great post” they just comment ‘I blog about xxx, check out here”.

Perfectly relatable!! Although skimmers may not be that bad, the FFF’s do get on my nerves. I mean, why follow of you don’t want to enable the notifications. The desperate class participators are as bad. They will comment something like ‘lovely post’ and not even see if we have given them a shout out!! 😂
(Not happened with me yet!!)
And the CBD sellers are annoying as well. I don’t know what do they want!!
Very funny post!! Loved it. 😂

Which category I fall in?? It’s all fun and game so be honest ☺️

You fall in no category!! I’m sure you are true to your word and read every word of all the blogs you follow. We need such passionate readers. We have enough skimmers for now!! (Although I am guilty of doing that myself sometimes 😅)

Well yeah, I mean look at the length of your blogs, still I’ve read them 🤭
Although I feel sorry for not reading enough of them. Like I read 2 more today, I will read them all one day(I’m sure). One of your blog gave me idea last time ☺️
Also, don’t tell me you’ve skimmed through my blogs, I’ve already trying to write them as reader friendly.
I just realised this is happy panda’s blog, so sorry for hijacking it 🙏🏼

HAhaha glad you enjoyed it!! 🙂
I am a skimmer too – it isn’t always possible to read through ALL the posts, especially ones that go on for pagessss! 😀

I’ve called you happy panda several times here as I don’t think that you have shared your actual name here and I want to keep it that way.
I wonder what category I am in, when I visit a new site I generally read their 4-5 blogs back to back and drop credible comments about what I feel.
By doing so, I wanted to tell them hey, I read your work and I respect it. I think I did it with you as well Happy panda. Whatever new you’ve shared since I followed you, I’ve read it and shared my feelings there and I also appreciate that you read my blogs time to time 🙂.
Btw, I hope you are fine, please take care and best wishes

Happy Panda is fine, I only get bugged when people call me ‘Happy’. 😀
The disclaimer was for this reason – to take this post as a joke. As I mentioned, I skim and do desperate class participation myself. So don’t overthink this post! 🙂

I hate the bloggers who ask me to visit their site because they visited mine. There’s something so aggravating about someone commenting on my posts to advertise their own blog. I get the feeling that their comments are not sincere because of this. Needless to day, I refuse to visit someone’s site if they come onto my site asking me to haha.

OMG, sameee! I usually end up visiting a new blogger’s blog if they’ve genuinely engaged with me on a post. But when they are like – VISIT ME, VISIT ME – I’m like NOOOOO. 😀

Touché! All great points! I see myself after your last point where you follow poets. I love poetry, but I don’t always understand what they’re writing but I want to encourage efforts so I leave a like. I’ll also leave likes when I want to encourage regular posts but don’t feel like I have anything else to contribute to the conversation.
While I’d love to have the bandwidth to visit everyone’s blogs and make insightful comments, my own life takes so much energy to live, that I end up lacking energy to give to the virtual world of blogging. I realize that so many of my visitors struggle with this same issue. They visit, find encouragement and then move on. Sometimes they use my contact me form to communicate with me instead of leaving comments, and I appreciate those efforts too.
I’m generally not swayed by the FFF folks. I’ll go check out their blog and if it resonates with me I’ll follow, otherwise I’ll leave a like or even a little comment for encouragement. Of course, there’s those who I definitely don’t like their content so I tiptoe away, and some who don’t seem to actually have a site.
Keep the posts coming!

I am guilty of number 2! I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who doesn’t understand poetry😂 I usually feel so guilty about it because most of the poets I know on WP are great at engaging with other blogs.

Love this post! I love listicles, and especially listicles ABOUT blogging, because it’s so insider ☺️ Number 2 drives me nuts. I only have one person that does it (I don’t have that many followers or commenters ha!), and I get the sense that they do it only so that I will comment on their blog. Either way, it’s kinda low effort, not thoughtful, and always a bit of an eye roll 🙄 Hope you’re feeling better M, and if not, that’s okay too!! xoxoxo

I am amused (more than aggravated) by those bloggers who “like” about seven of my posts simultaneously. I don’t understand why people go through that facade. Do they think I won’t notice that they liked several posts in the same minute? Speed readers—no doubt.🤣

Great post, well written… hahaha! Honestly though the FFFs really irk me, and those who like 6 in one minute. Do they think I don’t realize what they’re doing? And I don’t understand the CBD/viagra ones that filled up my spam. You’re right, what do they think they’ll get from me or my readers? Maggie

Is comment anxiety a thing? I think I have it as an overthinker.

The CBD people are SO weird! The attention seekers and disappearing act people are damned annoying. When I get skimmers and desperate class people, I do give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they are having an off day or a busy day and aren’t thinking straight. If they continue to do so, we have a problem

It was so relatable lol. Great points di! The FFF bloggers are really annoying and you know those bloggers who’ll like so many of your posts in just 10 seconds and leave these comments ‘nice blog’, ‘congrats’, it annoys me so much. I’m guilty of number 2, sometimes i skim through posts when I don’t have much time to read it all, and you know that feeling when you badly want to leave a comment appreciating someone’s work but feel guilty that you haven’t read the full post…

Ahaha great post Happy!… 😂
Joking for the “Happy” but not for the great post part! It definitely made me laugh! I guess I have a lot of “FFF-followers” because the count is quite high but the views not so much ahah 😂 at the same time, I don’t think I would have enough time to read through all of these blogs! I am also sometimes guilty of 2 and 3 because of time constraints and the fact that I definitely don’t blog regularly!

Okay, the fact that u don’t understand poems of certain bloggers relates to me too 😂😂. Sometimes I’m just like, am i too dumb to understand this or are you too smart for this world? 😂😂😂

Haha so true…I think you can tell when someone is commenting to promote themselves or try and get their name out their for the traffic and those who’ve read a post and genuinely commenting. I’m fine if people don’t want to read my stuff, you can’t please everyone, but the ‘great post’ comments are so obvious. Thankfully there’s a great community to connect with that makes up for those people!

Just kidding! I love your list, and you are so spot-on with all your annoying bloggers! Personally, I call #7 “Hijackers” because that’s what I feel they do to our blogs and comments. I just delete them. Love you! 🙂

These types of bloggers don’t annoy me per se, I do notice them and tend to give back the same amount of effort they seem to project towards my blog 🙂 The thing that annoys me the most which only happened once, was when someone took one of my posts out of context and commented a not-so-nice comment without knowing much background on me (they didn’t bother reading other posts before speaking out of the bums)! But that’s all 🙂

Im kinda guilty for few of these hahahhaha. Especially a skimmer if I see that the post is long and im having a long day, tired and all. However I’ll try to comment something that’s realtomg to the post not just “well written” only to find that it was just images 😂😂😂
No, not like that

HI! Thanks for the follow and this post cracked me up for yes, I think you stated something that we all feel at times. I have met amazing bloggers on here who have become great friends but you do still have the annoying ones. Like working at your job there will be people you get along with and some that are just annoying. 🙂 Have a great day and thanks for the smile.
