5 Thoughts I have While Using Dating Apps

I hate dating apps just cause I find that being active on dating apps is a lot of effort. The type of effort I just don’t feel like putting in right now. Why can’t I just meet someone at a coffee shop or at a party or at a bookstore? Oh right, I hate going out and when I do I am so socially awkward. So I am stuck trying my luck on dating apps.

Here are 5 recurring thoughts I have while using dating apps –

1. How much time did he save by typing “dats cul”? *Unmatch now*

2. “Wow, he’s cute. Very cute. Haha. Funny. Omg, he’s perfect.” *Sid is using Travel Mode. He lives in NY.* “Why God why?!?!”

3. “How do I reply and keep this conversation going when he is only giving me one-word replies?!!??”

4. “Hmmm….boring-ish profile. Damn, he is 6’2″. MATCH NOW!!!”

PC: imgflip

5. “Argh, he wants something casual. Pass! Uhmm… He wants to get married and have 2 babies and adopt a dog? And as soon as possible? He sounds totally crazy! NEXT!!!”

I’ve been on dating apps for a few years now and have my match-pass routine already set. Clearly, the routine doesn’t work since well, I’m still single. What are your thoughts while browsing through dating apps?

PS: I am going to be posting shorter and lighter posts for the next week or so. I’m buried under work, feeling stressed because my grandpa and grandma aren’t well, and just dealing with getting used to my new therapist.

Aw, sorry to hear your grandparents aren’t well but glad to hear you’re seeing a therapist!

The one word responses were such a turn-off for me, I typically passed on those because if that’s the MOST effort you’re willing to give now I can’t imagine how thrilling a relationship with them would be LOL

  3. Ha omg I love every single one of these!! And these responses show your humanness. Online dating is this crazy phenomenon that just brings out another level of truth about ourselves it’s so crazy! I also think all of your instincts are really accurate ha! Although it’s ok to give short guys a chance too πŸ€£πŸ’– but Omg tall yes!!! Online dating is also like school and there are so many lessons to learn. And once you’ve done it long enough you become a master. I’d say u and I have achieved master status. So now, gimme my A! In the form of a perfect soulmate πŸ˜¬πŸŒΊπŸ€£πŸ’–

I really don’t get it either!!! The tallest guy I dated was also the densest guy I’ve met. But every single time I see 183cms+ on a dating profile – I blindly match. πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

I haven’t used them yet. Hopefully I don’t need to either. I find it very superficial and judgemental. Also, wishing your grandparents safe health. Sorry to hear you’re stressed… maybe this new therapist will prove to be more helpful with time and you’ll feel a lot better soon! πŸ’œπŸ₯Ί

  8. What a fun post! I can see why it can be complicated and agree with you that it is nicer to meet someone at a bookstore or cafe. Having said that, I have never met anyone in these places, too. I did meet Markus at a fighting gym though, so there is that.

As for dating apps, I have to say that I quite enjoyed the process and I liked checking the different profiles. It was also a fun activity to do with friends ahah! I actually met my boyfriend on a dating app so it works! πŸ˜‰

Omg. Thank for giving me hope. I’ve had some crappy dates lately and have almost given up on ever finding someone date-able.
