Good Health & You: 7 Doctors That You Should Visit Often (Guest Post)

Hello and welcome back to another blog. Today I will introduce you to the ‘7 doctors that you should visit often’. But wait, what am I doing here? This is not my blog. Are you wondering who I am? I am your favourite health blogger, Devang from Fat Guy Workout. Happy Panda is on a break today, so instead, I am filling in with this post on health and healthy habits for you all.

As the heading suggests, I will discuss 7 doctors that are of utmost importance. The services of these doctors are free, and they will not ask much from you. Confused? Read on to know more –

Doctor #1- Exercise

1st doctor on our list is exercise. Daily exercise can keep you away from tons of issues. Various research suggests that those who exercise for 30mins daily, tend to live much longer. Regular exercise can keep your blood pressure in check, can keep your heart healthy, and can help with so much more.

An active lifestyle is so much better than the sedentary one. You don’t need to do anything fancy. If you are a beginner, then I suggest starting off with a morning walk. But if it interests you then swimming classes or dance classes, may also be a great option. You can also join a gym, where you will find tons of workout options.

It’s no secret now, but Happy Panda loves to ride a bicycle. Cycling is a great form of exercise too. In the comments, tell me what your favourite form of exercise is.

Doctor #2- Healthy Food

Healthy food is an even more important or bigger doctor than exercise. Healthy food make sure the proper functioning of your body. Whatever you are eating, will reflect on your body. If you eat healthy food, your body will automatically show some good results.

I won’t tell you to ditch the junk food and eat veggies and fruits. I will instead recommend that whatever you eat, eat in moderation. You are knowledgeable enough to understand what’s good for you and what’s bad. So, adopt some good food choices and consume a balanced meal.

A balanced meal contains food of 4-5 colours, and it provides you all the necessary nutrients. I won’t be suggesting any specific diet, because I want you to stay open to various food options (and I am being lazy, sorry).

Doctor #3- Water

Our body contains 60% water (that’s a fact you can read on the internet). But, still, our body needs water daily for various vital functions. Doctor water (it rhymes), is a natural healer of our body. Many problems within our body can be solved with the proper consumption of water. Imagine, you are out all day, and you are very tired. What’s the first thing you need? The answer is water.

Actually, water is not needed by our stomach, but our brain needs it. When we drink sufficient water, our brains start functioning even better. It will direct our other body parts to function properly.

Before, this start sounding like a water commercial, you need to remember to drink sufficient water daily. Some people have told me that, they can’t remember to drink enough water. You can associate drinking water with certain tasks and, after doing that task, drink water. You can also set a reminder on your phone to drink water ever so often.

Remember, health experts recommend drinking over 2 liters of water daily (the general recommendation from The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) a day for women & 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) a day for men). The amount of water your body needs depends on a variety of factors such as weather, diet, environment, activity levels, etc.

Doctor #4- Rest

Our next doctor is a bit lazy. Its name is rest. This doctor is a very important doctor on our list today. If we ignore rest, our brain will mess up other activities. Everybody needs rest, as our body is not designed to work continuously for hours. It needs a break to recover.

While we are resting, our brain is gathering more energy for our body. Good food and workout can surely keep our bodies active. But, sufficient rest is crucial for our body. Suppose you are working on a blog continuously and suddenly ideas stop coming to your mind. Your back also starts hurting. You wondered why that is. Because your brain is demanding rest. In such a case, put your work to the side and give your brain a well-deserved rest.

Rest is important, but I hope my blog is not boring you yet, as you still have appointments with 3 more doctors.

Doctor #5- Fasting

You might or might not be aware of this doctor. The benefits of fasting are amazing. It actually helps us to know more about our body and its needs. Regular fasting can also help in controlling the sugar level, controlling weight, and more.

Fasting is great. But, I won’t suggest skipping any important meal for it. It’s not for everyone. If I talk about myself, I cannot remain hungry for very long. So I make sure, to take food at a specific time. Fasting is good for those whose eating time is not fixed and who can remain hungry for a little longer.

Doctor #6- Meditation

Meditation is something that most people ignore – it allows us to connect with our minds. There is tremendous power within our mind itself. Regular meditation helps us to understand those powers. I personally feel that the best time to meditate is in the morning when there is very less distraction.

In meditation, one needs to calm their mind and relax. Then, you need to listen to your breathing and focus on only 1 thing. Daily meditation helps in improving concentration. It also allows us to think better and improves the capacity of the mind.

Those who suggest that meditation is exclusively for adults are wrong. Meditation is found to be very beneficial for all ages. Who knows what answer you will find in your next meditation session?

Doctor #7- Nature

Many people completely overlook the healing power of nature. Nature is amazing, and it can treat so many issues. All you need to do is spend some time with nature in some form. You can do gardening or play some sport or just go for a walk. I honestly don’t know how to convince you to move out and enjoy the wonders of nature. It’s something, you will understand better if you can feel it yourself.

Many people don’t get enough time with nature due to their work. I suggest somehow making time for it and encouraging others as well. I can guarantee you some good changes if you can spend at some time every week with nature.

So, that’s it for this blog. Have I missed out on any doctor? Let me know in the comments. If you have anything to say, then the comment box is all yours. If you have any complaints, then tell that to Happy Panda, because I’m out, JK.

I have mentioned her multiple times, but haven’t thanked her. Thanks to Happy Panda for allowing me to share this blog.

Until next time, remember to smile.

Nice writing style! haha, I can’t agree more with all the doctors. Meditation helped me during my time of difficulty to relax, focus and regain peace. As for water, I am one of those who can’t remember drinking, so I made my phone bug me the whole day to get my water requirement.

I agree with all these! It’s amazing how 30 mins of exercise can lengthen your life, too. And I agree with the benefits of meditation. I do it daily myself. Great read, Devang! 😊

  4. I admit I tend to neglect Dr. #6. Dr. #5 has been particularly useful since I don’t have an appendix anymore!

I try to do all of these but I think the ones I fall behind on is not exercising enough and not drinking enough water but I’m trying to work on both these things. Great post, Devang!

    1. Somehow you need to squeeze time for workout. I know how busy you are. You need to find an activity that you really like. If it’s your favourite, you can manage time for it. For water, you can try to remember it with some work. Sometimes we have water infront of us, but we get involved in our work so much, that we forget to drink it. You are reward yourself with water after any task completion.

Yeah I think so too. I work out for like half an hour or 40 minutes a day but it’s just basic yoga and stuff and I want to do more.

      2. If somehow you can manage morning walk or cycling in the morning, along with yoga. That would be sufficient workout for you. I know how busy you are, so joining a gym/club is out of question. You just need so more time along with your yoga session.

      3. Oo really thank you so much. The meaning of my name is a bit complicated, but I will try so that you can understand.
My name is made up of two Sanskrit words 1st is sar and 2nd is vidha, sar means elements and vidha means separation of good and bad elements.
I hope, I have been able to explain. 😊
