I’m not even exaggerating when I say that it felt like yesterday when I was writing about my 2021 favourites. How has this year just swooshed by? It literally went like…January, February, March…30th December! Where did the rest of the year go and what did I do with all that time? I’ll definitely keep ranting about this in my early posts in 2023 but for now, how about we talk about my favourites from 2022. Overall this year was another meh year for me (I promise my 2023 favourites post will say differently) but I did enjoy a few things and moments and this is me consolidating them all to share with you.
My Favourite Book
I didn’t manage to reach my reading goal for the year but I did read 24 books this year. Most of the books I read this year didn’t make a big impact other than one book that had me turning pages and kept me up all night. The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell was all sorts of WOW. I finished reading the book in one night. It was a bummer that its sequel didn’t live up to the hype of its prequel.
My Favourite Skincare
I fell in love with a few skincare products this year. I love this Indian small brand The Yuj Chapter’s Lipbalm and sunscreen. Their C-Bae lipbalm is an exact dupe for Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask. Add to it that they are a sustainable brand and use only sustainable packaging.

I also fell in love with multiple natural, sustainable, deodorant balm/pit paste this year. I’ve stopped buying body mists completely since they come in plastic bottles (although I do miss my favourite Victoria’s Secret mist). As someone who has struggled with BO most of my life, these pit pastes have led to zero BO even after a sweaty workout. I so recommend trying them out. My favourite natural deodorants are –

1. Nature Mason’s Citrus Deodorant Balm
2. Juicy Chemistry’s Blood Orange Deodorant
3. Plum Body-Loving Vanilla Vibes Pit Cream
My Favourite Make-up
I did try some new make-up this year but struggled with finding good make-up that was cruelty free and not made in China. I tried new products from Kay Beauty – their contour stick is amazing and their eye liner is the best in the market especially at that cost.
My Favourite Song
This isn’t a new song but I heard it this year and I can’t get over it. It’s a Pakistani Sufi song in Urdu called Pardadari by Abida Praveen and Atif Aslam. It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it and yet makes me feel so peaceful.
My Favourite Show

A lot of my favourite shows had sequels come this year – Dead To Me, Only Murders in The Building, One Of Us is Lying – and while they were all entertaining, I didn’t love them as much as I expected to. I think my favourite show this year would be Wednesday. It was a fun watch.
My Favourite Travel

My favourite trip has to be our January trip to Kashmir. Kashmir is called heaven on Earth and I could see why. We were also lucky to be in Kashmir during snowfall and it was magical. My parents had never seen snowfall before either, watching their excitement was everything. I’ve been pushing them to travel more before age becomes a problem – hopefully they will in 2023 once my mom retires.

My Favourite Memory

I said goodbye to my grandfather this year and it sucked. My favourite memory of this year is my last coherent memory with him. He was in the ICU and during visiting hours, I got to spend 20 minutes with him and made him watch his favourite team, Manchester United’s match. It’s going to be a memory I will never forget.
My Favourite Blog Post
I’m honestly disappointed by the level of blog posts I put out this year. I was very distracted this entire year. But I think my tributes for my grandfather and grandmother have to be my favourite posts.
My Favourite Achievement
I’ve found it very hard to ask for help. But this year I felt like I was struggling with work and reached out to seniors from my B-school and for mentors onboard to ho me out. I am proud that I was able to admit that I need help and actually get help.
Those were my favourites from 2022. What were your favourites from this year? How are you feeling on the last day of the year?
Wishing you all an amazing 2023. May the year be your best one yet. I look forward to continuing our blogging relationship in the new year. β€οΈ

Bookmarking this because of the great recommendations. I only recently started following you and haven’t read you older posts, so I was surprised that you not only value, but hold yourself to a higher than normal standard on sustainable products. This is something I want to bring into my life, but find it difficult to find the products. Here’s hoping you post more on this topic next year! Many blessings to you! β€οΈ

I enjoyed reading the recap of your year, Moksha. No year is perfect, but the last few months have been filled with too much drama. We’re ready for a quieter 2023. May the world be a little less judgmental and a lot more tolerant.
