Dating Profiles And My Pet Peeves

Disclaimer – this is a FUNNY post.

I have been online dating on and off for the past two years. While online dating has made it easier to find people to date, it has also made dating extremely complicated. With thousands of profiles on dating apps, I have developed some pet peeves that help me go through the profiles faster. I usually swipe right on 1/30 profiles – so you know I’ve got some crazy, weird pet peeves.

  • I WILL NOT MATCH WITH A MAN WHO HAS A SHIRTLESS PHOTO ON HIS PROFILE! I’m sorry but I just CAN’T reward this sort of vanity. Also, the men with shirtless photos on dating apps are the ones that SHOULD be wearing their shirts at all times.
  • Men with photos in the gym – again a NO GO! I really appreciate a man who is in good shape and works out but I don’t need to see a sweaty gym photo showing off your bicep – ARGHH.
  • I really don’t understand those man-children who post smoking photos on their profile thinking it makes them look cool – no, bro, NO!
  • Most dating apps have these ‘question prompts’ that you can add to your profile. The one that annoys me the most is – “The hallmark of a great relationship is” – and the generic gibberish answers like “honesty, love and trust”. SNOOZE FEST ALERT!
  • I just don’t trust a man who has 3 or more selfies on his profile. I can’t explain it but I don’t.
  • I also never match with someone who ‘typs lyk dis’. Was it really that hard for you to type YOU, that you settled for U? *BIGGEST EYE ROLL POSSIBLE*
  • WHY would someone have hashtags on their dating profile!!?? Like this just boggles my mind so much. Is it somehow cool to have #wanderlust on your dating profile?
  • This one is going to sound really stupid – but if you’ve been following my blog for a while – you know how lazy I am – so if someone lives outside a 10km radius from my place – it is a NO GO! I am never going to make THAT much effort to go meet someone. I am just too lazy and not in that much of a rush to find someone.
  • The first thing I usually check is a guy’s job and educational qualifications – I am older and wiser and more practical. These things do matter to me considering I am pretty well educated (engineer + MBA).
  • HEIGHT. I can already feel the flak coming for this point. This is just a BONUS point – if a guy is tall (6ft is ideal), I’ll probably be convinced faster to match with him.

This post probably gives you an idea as to why I am still single. (:P) I don’t know if these pet peeves are legit but I think they sort of make sense. Despite all this, I have dated some nice guys and I will tell you more about my dating experiences in future posts! What are some of your pet peeves or criteria for dating someone?

PS: Since all of you seem pretty excited to read about my dating experiences – I’ve decided to write about it fortnightly – some experiences, some fun general stuff. Hope you enjoy it!

Haha, this was a FUNNY post 😂 I have a elder friend and he is like 21 years old (yes I call him bhaiya, of course). And I think boy or girl, everyone has their own problems using dating apps!! He told me a similar thing about his experience using Tinder. He met a girl at last who he is still dating and they look cute together but before that, according to him, it was all a mess ❌

Haha definitely girls are not saints either! But I think we are a little better than men on dating apps! (gender bias) 😀
But I am so glad he found someone nice. I honestly think it is easier when you are younger, the older you get the more finicky you get and have such absurd pet peeves. 😛

Of course, girls are better 🤞
Yeah, I have a lot of people around me who agree on the fact that the younger you are, the better you get!
I’m not at all experienced when it comes to dating and relationships but I’ve seen a lot of people doing it.
Nowadays online dating has become so common yet I don’t think I’ll ever make an account when I grow up.

I found this post hilarious 😂 I had NO idea that apps like that even existed until a year back, so this post gives a deeper dive and makes it all the more funny 😄😂
“Guys who have shirtless photos are the ones who must have their shirts on all the time” LOL. I was grinning like an idiot 🤣

It does save me time but it also makes it harder to meet someone I genuinely like.

  6. Wow, we’re pretty well the same. I can’t stand vain, unintelligent people either. Also, after meeting them, I have a lot of pet peeves, like if he talks too much or chews with his mouth open.

HAHAHA! Do you think we’re like Chandler? I re-watched that Season 2 episode recently where he is finding flaws with every woman he dates and I was like DAMN, that is so me. I also don’t like it when men sit with their legs wide open – I don’t get why they do that or if a man eats off of my plate during the first few dates – it is totally unacceptable.

Haha can’t wait to read about your dating experiences lol.. I absolutely agree with you on your pet peeves lol the no-shirt-bathroom pics really turned me off, as well as ppl with NO PHOTOS!! Some ppl might think that’s superficial but c’mon, I need to see your face! Lol… I’m pretty tall myself (5’9)so I also had a thing about the guy should be taller than me… I know it’s silly but I neeeed it lol… One guy told me he was 5’10 and when I met him I kid you not he was like 5’7!!! 😳😱

I agree – there are these people with memes on their dating profile – this isn’t IG, this is HINGE – how do you expect a follow basis that? 😀
OMG! Did you still go on the date? I once went on a date wearing heels and was taller than the guy and it was so so awkward! Thankfully I carry flats in my giant purse at all times – so I changed into them! 😀

      1. bosssybabe says:

Yep.. I actually gave him a chance and kind of overlooked it… Also, how do you tell someone who truly believes they are 5’10 that they aren’t LOL but I never saw him again lol

I have not stepped in the online dating world yet but I know my pet peeves are gonna be exactly like yours 😅😅 I enjoyed reading this post very much !!! Also men posting pictures with rifles cringes out me the most… also if someone has put the caption like “sun pagli agar tu ……” something like this, nothing screams illiteracy to me more than this line….

A nice post full of humour and some hard realities. I agree why should men go shirtless on dating site or want to show themselves in a gym.
It is your choice and good you are exercising it.
Stay blessed and may you find your ideal match sooner 😁🌸

  13. I think a lot of people will relate to the shirtless or gym guy😂. I know I did. Some people don’t even put their faces on their profile but show their abs instead🤣🤣. I personally prefer a guy who has a pic with his pet rather than a shirtless pose.
