5 Irrational Fears of Mine

I’ve been enjoying writing about myself. It’s been easy to write and fun to share things with you about me. I am scared of a lot of things – I am a HUGE coward but some things scare me more than others. Here are my irrational fears –

1. LIZARDS – These tiny creepy creatures are pretty common in India. Infact you’re bound to find them in every single household. I am TERRIFIED by them to the extent that I can’t be in the room if there’s a lizard in the room. As soon as summers hit my city – my nightmare begins! I’ve literally tried so many sprays and DIYs to repel them from our home but they’ve all been pretty ineffective against these tiny beasts. Most people seem to be able to ignore them but they creep the living hell out of me.

2. FAILURE – I just can’t lose or fail. I used to be such a sore loser while playing sports. I also used to take every failure to heart and beat myself up about it. It’s taken me years to get myself to be more accepting of my failures and mistakes.

3. PIGEONS – I just don’t get this species of birds. They are so unpredictable and do the most brainless things (like fly straight into the fan or straight into glass). They just freak me out so much!

4. UNATTRACTIVE BOOK COVERS – I’m sorry but I just can’t pick up a book that has an unappealing book cover. I can’t even get myself to read the synopsis of the book forget actually read it. Yes, I totally judge a book by it’s cover.

5. BEING UNLIKABLE – I don’t make an effort towards having a lot of people in my life but I totally fear that the people in my life won’t like/love me. It is a fear that makes me do irrational things to make sure they stay. I go out of my way to do things for people and hate if I’m not appreciated. I know this in itself is a very unlikable quality and I’ve been working on caring less about being appreciated/liked.

What are some of your irrational fears? Spill the beans in the comments!

As a lizard lover I can’t imagine hating the cuties (just look at their grinning little faces and happy little flappy legs) but I have the same unmanageable fear for wasps. And jellyfish. And deep water. And heights…
    (The list goes on).

But hey, fear keeps us on our toes right. Win!

Before you start hating me, Loku wants to say, “ I appreciate your work”.🤣🤣

Yesterday, I was in the bathroom. I was about to leave…and suddenly the tale of a big lizard fell beside me. I looked back at the lizard, it looks like if someone has cut its take with a knife. I don’t fear a lizard but I don’t want to touch them or they touch me.

It was an interesting reading my friend, I really enjoyed a lot. I hope you’ll get rid of your fears as soon as possible.

I think Lizards are soooo cute. Whenever I go to Florida and visit my friends, I am always trying to be-friend the local Lizards! I guess thats because we don’t get lizards here in the UK. not where I live anyway!

Pigeons are beautiful but they behave like they don’t have brains. We have glass balconies and the number of times they crash into it is so freaky. 🙈

Right? The prettier the book cover the more interested I am in reading the book.

Number 5! Also, I have an irrational, totally weird fear of ladybugs, so I get the fear of lizards. And failure, too. I hate feeling like I’ve not succeeded, especially in goals I’ve set for myself. Really good post!

Pigeons are horrible. Ever since my friend got hit by one of their wings when we were walking and it tried to fly away, I have also had an irrational fear of them 😂 I flinch every time I’m close to one that flies away now. And the pigeons in London are just so bold. Humans don’t scare them anymore haha, I hate it!

    1. Happy Panda says:

They are just so brainless – you can never guess what they’re going to do next. Every time our balcony door is left open they fly right in towards the fan – I just don’t get why. 🤦 This kind of stupidity freaks me out.

  23. I can relate to the not like-able one. Only mine I think has more to do with my anxiety. I always think people are talking about me and then that relates to “do they not like me?” “What are they saying?” “Are they making fun of me?” In reality though, I could care less if people like me! I don’t understand why I freak out when it’s happening though🤔😩

Hahha it’s an irrational fear – I freak out if I have to read a book with an unattractive cover – I just can’t. 🙈

Fear of spiders reminds me of Ron Weasley! Ron: Why spiders? Why couldn’t it be “follow the butterflies”?

      Snakes are creeepy!

  27. Hi Happy Panda, thanks for your writing. I recognize a lot of what you say in my own life, mostly from my old life, which is now gradually changing through the help of the Holy Spirit. The things about failure and people leaving I totally recognize, though for me it is much less now than it used to be

Yes, sometimes it is easier to be friends with strangers. Strangers dont put you un a box and throw away the key.

I dont think friends and family do it intentionally but people can only take you on face value if they have just met you. Trust me, it is very liberating.

Haha my mum’s terrified of lizards too. I have become thick-skinned about them thanks to her. I once had to pick up a lizzy by my fingers and throw it outside because it had lost its tail and couldnt climb walls anymore. I still consider that one of my bravest anecdotes. xD

So funny. I don’t even think I’ve thought about an irrational fear. Lizards can be quick and sneaky, so I get it, but I don’t fear them.
On your comment of fearing that people don’t like you. Here’s a tip I hope you take. A close friend of mine is kinda the same way and we were discussing positive and negative encounters/friends. If a person doesn’t bring a positive quality to your life, they aren’t worth being in your circle. So if you constantly beat yourself up or go out of your comfort zone to ensure someone likes you, your changing who you are and that’s not good. You are you and you should love that. If they don’t, someone else does or will. 🙂
