6|Happiness is|Solo Travel

Continuing with my “Happiness Is” photo series – this is the 6th post! Definitely check out the first 5 posts in this series.

Most of us love travel – but for me travel becomes even more exciting when I’m travelling solo! I haven’t done a lot of solo travels but the 4-5 trips that I have done on my own have been the most exciting, challenging and fun trips. I recommend trying this atleast once in your lifetime – I understand solo travel isn’t for everyone but it is worth trying once, if nothing it will help with personal growth.

Here are some photos from my solo travel (follow me on instagram for updates on my travels):

St.Paul’s Cathedral, Kolkata, India.
(This Cathedral is gorgeous – it’s right opposite Victoria Memorial)
Prinsep Ghat, Kolkata, India
Prinsep Ghat on River Ganges, Kolkata, India
Sunrise at Hampi, Karanataka, India.
Photo from my IG feed of Hampi.
Loved roaming around on my own next to the river bed in Hampi.
Barcelona, Spain.
(I think I’ve written a lot about this trip already!)
Madrid, Spain.
Churros & hot chocolate
Stayed in amazing hostels across Spain – met some other wonderful people that were travelling solo.
It can be very freeing to eat meals on your own! This restaurant with this view in Seville, Spain. ❤️

Beautiful photographs. I’ve only been to two of the places you featured (Barcelona and Madrid), but you did an excellent job of capturing their magic. Also, those churros make me so hungry!

Thank you! I loved photographing Barca. It’s such a pretty city. Those churros were amazing and I couldn’t finish them because they were so heavy!! 😓 I wish I get a chance to go back soon. ☺️

Same! I can’t wait for the pandemic to end so I can rush off to some place new, on my own! There is this crazy adrenaline rush connected to solo travelling – it’s amazing. 🙂

I did! Being on your own is amazing – you get to take all the decisions – where to eat, what to see, what time to wake up! It’s scary also – especially if there is a change in plans or something goes wrong. When I was in Spain – there were scary protests going on in Barcelona. So dealing with changed plans was tough! But overall an AMAZING experience! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I really like your fashion style. Something about it that cool. Hopefully one day I’ll travel solo. Am pretty much use to doing things “solo”, just would have to do some careful planning and $budgeting$.

Yup – need to plan everything, set a budget and keep reminding yourself to stick to it. I wasn’t sure about how expensive it’s going to be in Spain so the first 2 days I just had ice cream for lunch. By the third day I had figured out the proper budget for meals & travel – so it got better! I hope you get to travel soon! 🙂

Churros & hot chocolate sounds like a good name for a blog 😀

Also, eating alone. YES. I remember the first time I did it was in high school at a McDonalds. I wanted the experience and I got it over with – if you know what I mean. So that when I did it again, it wasn’t intimidating. Then I did it more often and it’s great. Freeing is the perfect word for it.

Hahaha, that does sound like a fun blog name!

The first 2-3 times eating on your own is intimidating. I think the main thing is to not care about what other people are thinking. I feel like that used to deter me the most from going out on my own.

So true, and if they think of you, it’s a passing thought at best!
